Sacramento weekend trip

We had a great weekend trip to Sacramento to see the Feather River Temple open house in Yuba City. Several months ago I was lamenting to Kindel that I want to take all the kids to a temple open house.  He looked around and found this Feather River Temple would be having an open house at the end of summer. Southwest airlines has cheap flights to/from Sacramento so we booked a weekend trip for all of us to go. Kindel's sister Donne lives in Reno which is only a couple of hours away so we invited them to join us.  My kids are now obsessed with her husband David who has been married 3 times, has 11 children and was a secret agent. lol not really. But he did work in military intelligence and speaks russian. Here's the run down of what we did. SATURDAY August 26 -  5am -leave for the airport!  Early! 7am - southwest flight from SAN to SAC - only 1 hour and 7 minutes flying time. Substitute Teaching

I recently started subbing for Poway Unified School District!  It took me a couple of months do to the application. There was a pre-application to get a substitute teaching certificate from san diego county involving lots of paperwork, a fingerprinting check which costs 80 bucks! Then once I go the substitute teaching permit I applied through PUSD to be a substitute teacher for the district. This involved another fingerprinting background check (such a waste of time and money to do it again), more paperwork and letters of recommendation.   I got letters of recommendation from Ginger Carpenter, Jessica Dahlquist and Gary Waldvogel. It was so kind of them to write letters for me.  I also had to make a resume, which I haven't done in 20 years! It felt good to look at my resume and realize that even thought I haven't been officially working for so many years I have been contributing to the world in some ways and that I have personally been growing in many areas and have ...

 Oh, how I have missed blogging!  Even if it is just for me and the kids, it is such a fun way to record some of the fun and sweet moments in life. Fall 2021  -  after 18 months of COVID disruption of school, all the kids went back to school this fall and it is very exciting! Clare started 10th grade at Poway High School. She had done home school for 8th grade and planned to start at PHS as a freshmen but COVID interrupted her plans. Even though she did get to play varsity tennis last year (go Clare!) she had never been inside a classroom until a sophmore! She is happy to be on campus and has such a busy starting with 6am seminary, then school and then tennis. Week days she doesn't get home until between 5-7pm! I am so happy for her but also miss her. more on clare - piano, learning to drive, country music Alexey is in 8th grade at Twin Peaks! She LOVES band and Mr. Moreau.
